Rabbit Food and Hay
Many people think that pellets are a rabbit’s basic feed, but it’s actually not true. In fact, the hay is the rabbit’s most important food. The majority of the food wild rabbits eat in nature is actually grass, both fresh and dry grass, depending on the season and what is available. Once they have filled their stomachs with grass / hay and fed the worst hunger, they eat herbs, green leaves, flowers, fresh shoots and bark. This leafy green should be your rabbit supplement feed. Here you will find all our carefully selected healthy hay and feed that are delicious and health promoting and as close to the food of the wild rabbits as possible.
We just started the rabbit shop, so we get more stuff into the store all the time. So check in regularly to see the growing range of items for your rabbit.
On this page you can find different varieties of hay and hay mixtures we can offer. It is important that the hay is of good quality as it is the rabbit’s main food. If it has been laying too long or is exposed to direct sun for a long time, it loses some of the good vitamins and other nutrients it contains. It should preferably smell good of grass. It is best if it consists of various grasses, that gives your rabbit a lovely varied diet. Here you can find delicious organic hay, and quality hay with e.g. clover or herbs. Lucerne hay is very nutritious and should not be given alone, but nice supplement mixed with other kinds of hay. Give your rabbit a mix of several kinds or switch between the brands.
You can easily keep rabbits without giving them feed pellets. In fact, many pellets are made from inexpensive waste products from the industry such as grains, soy and corn that are processed so much that they are very indigestible. Of course, giving the pills is easy and convenient, and we have also chosen to have some good quality pellets. When the feed pellets are of good quality, they are made green plants, which are the natural food of the rabbit, and not of wheat or corn. They are cold pressed so that they retain vitamins, and the plants are not too much crushed, thereby destroying their cellulose structure. And of course, without added cereals, sugar/molasses, dyes and synthetic flavours.
Whole plant parts
A really good and healthy alternative to pellets is structural feed. It is simply dried whole plant parts. When the plants or large plant parts are dried, it retains the long cellulose structure which is good for rabbit digestion. Here you will find our delicious selection of real rabbit food. Health-promoting compound mixtures of dried leaves, vegetables and herbs. Delicious. Everything your rabbit needs for a long and healthy life.
